The Cube switch:

Remove cube core

turn cube so your facing the hard drive IDE connector

On the cube motherboard there's a square plug on the left, between the top plate and the hard drive. Disconnect the wire (8 wires approx)

Insert cube into case

Now you can use the power switch on your Apple display to turn the Cube on and off - or buy an onCue, USB Start-Up Key for about $15

If its the LCD panel's prox switch:

See Apple's kbase article number 58813: LCD Displays: How to Disable Touch Switch for a non-invasive way to disable the switch.

Or...

Turn LCD face down on towel
use Allen or Torx 10 to remove the leg (3 screws)
Remove leg, and joint cover
Use same tool to remove the 4 surrounding screws
Remove clear plastic
Remove Grey plastic
Now its black plastic

On the bottom edge, there's a plastic access panel. Remove that

Now you see the 2 prox switch hookups. Disconnect them.

Reassemble
