Attached are the files you need, as described in this forum thread. Special thanks to Uli (aka Gene Hack in the Forums) for creating the script that enables NAP mode at startup.
WARNING: Do not use CHUD and CPU Director at the same time. Using CHUD is an unsupported alternative that was used before CPU Director had been updated for 10.4.5 compatibility. Attempting to install or use CPU Director while CHUD is installed will cause NVRAM conflicts resulting in kernel panics and unstable operation of your upgrade. Please remove CHUD and disable any CPU-related scripts if you choose to install the current version of CPU Director.
Instructions:
It is really not difficult at all to have this 'alternative' installed for Mac OS X 10.4.5.
First, you'd have to install CHUD Tools v3.5.2, which you can download free from Apple or at the bottom of this article.
ftp://ftp.apple.com/developer/Tool_Chest/Testing_-_Debugging/Performance_tools/
You'll know it was installed successfully by checking your System Preferences for the addition of a new Hardware icon.
Do not use later versions of CHUD Tools, as the NAP settings were disabled by Apple in later versions.
Next, download "napsetting.app.sit" from below, as provided by gene hack and add this script to your Login Items under System Preferences -> Accounts. This will ensure that NAP is enabled at every restart automatically.
Additional details about how it works are provided by gene hack in this Forum thread.
